RIP Winda 😢 | First Cheetah Hunt I saw in Wild | Mbili Bora Brothers

In a heartbreak turn of event “Winda” has sadly passed away on March 15. His leg was broken and although the vets treated him, he sadly passed away six days later. At 10.5 years old the pain was too much to endure. However Winda lived a remarkable life, outlasting many other cheetah coalitions in the Maasai Mara and overcoming the challenges of the wild.

The Tano Bora coalition has faced significant losses over the years. The original leader Olpadan passed away in January 2022 after being killed by lions, followed by Olarishani on February 13, 2022 who was also killed by lions and Leboo in late July 2022 in a human wildlife conflict incident. Now in March 2025 Winda who lived an extraordinary life compared to his companions who died at age 7, has also passed away. This leaves Olonyok as the sole surviving member destined to navigate the wild as a lone male.

Tano Bora - Tano Bora, meaning ‘The Magnificent Five’ in Swahili, was the famed cheetah coalition in the Masai Mara. They were called Olonoyok, Olarishani, Leboo, Winda, and Olpadan
