Liberal Leader Mark Carney will form government, Global News is projecting.

And while it is unclear whether the Liberals will form a majority or minority government, all polls in Canada’s federal election have now closed as millions of Canadians cast their ballot in the 2025 federal general election.

Meanwhile, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced he would be resigning as party leader, while Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre admitted his party didn't quite "get over the finish line."

The 37-day election campaign, the shortest possible time frame for an election campaign, was held under the economic threat posed to Canada by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs and his threats to make Canada the 51st state.
