E. Robert Schmitz (1889-1949) was a virtuoso French-born American pianist who was known for his concert tour performances as well as for his many recorded roll performances for Ampico and Duo-Art, from a wide range of composers and classical genres. Here he plays the third and final movement from Claude Debussy’s suite L.95 “Pour le piano”, titled "Toccata" and composed in 1901. This roll recording was issued by Ampico as #68661 in March 1928. The piano is a large 7’ 1928 Mason & Hamlin model RBB Ampico B player piano restored in 2020 at Historic Pianos.
