Raw footage providing about 5 minutes of more than a 2-hour incident in the City of Antioch.
On Tuesday August 20 at Approximately 5:30 pm, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a report of a column of smoke in the area of Brazil Drive and Viera Avenue in the City of Antioch.
Firefighters arrived to an area known for homeless encampments with trees and brush on fire—just a week ago, they were called to the same spot for a small spot fire started from cooking. On Tuesday, firefighters were able to make quick access and limit the spread of the fire to under a quarter acre.
However, due to heavy brush and being in a field, crews were on scene for more than 2-hours performing mop up to ensure the fire did not start back up. Antioch Police also responded to the incident.
