The Gene Snyder Freeway serves as the outer beltway for traffic around the Kentucky side of the Louisville metro area, connecting the major highways to the south and east with the Lewis & Clark Bridge.
On the Indiana side of the Ohio River, the east-west Interstate 265 connects I-64 & I-65 with the Lewis & Clark Bridge and the East End of Louisville.
