Let's not kid(ney) ourselves: renal physiology is tough! I struggled with it as a medical student and had to do an inordinate amount of reading until I felt comfortable recording this video.
But you should be comfortable with acute tubular injury (ATI) because it is a common cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) and THAT is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in hospitalized patients.
ATI often gets short shrift in the medical curriculum because there is such a fuss about glomerulonephritis (which is also quite tough! check out the Pathology Central video on Nephrotic and Nephritic syndromes) and renal tumors. This short video will help you catch up on the topic and be prepared for the wards and the Boards!
