how are DOLBY ATMOS mixes created?

Recently I had the unique opportunity to sit down with Dolby Atmos mix engineer Jonathan Cornell to talk about his latest work "Across the Milky Way" by Christopher Holt. Jonathan granted me an unprecedented look behind the curtain (at least for this channel) into the creation of a Dolby Atmos mix, including his theories on instrument placement, mix approach and the technical challenges presented by the format.
