Haunt: 2025 MFA Exhibition showcases the thesis work of Studio Art & Design Master of Fine Arts candidates at the UCF School of Visual Arts and Design: Stella Arbeláez Tascón, Brittani Brown and Janessa Douds.
Stella Arbeláez Tascón’s work explores the evolution she experienced while healing from divorce and through hiking the Florida Natural Scenic Trail (FNST), which altered her perceptions of the world. Brittani Brown creates photographic, textile, and virtual works that serve as an anthropological and personal investigation into her upbringing in a southeastern, rural Southern Baptist community. Janessa Douds’ paintings explore the threshold between reality and imagination, confronting the eerie within the ordinary and questioning how the emotions and experiences that dwell within our spaces affect our perceptions of home.
Each graduate student will also present public thesis defenses to support their research and creative practice. These talks will take place in the UCF Art Gallery.
Stella Arbeláez Tascón’s thesis defense: Monday, Feb. 24 at 11AM
Brittani Brown’s thesis defense: Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 3PM
Janessa Douds’ thesis defense: Friday, Feb. 28 at 3PM
