Check out this rare move on Norfolk Southern's Lake Erie District!!
NS train 66Q, led by AC44C6M 4645, is quite a sight rolling east on the ex Nickel Plate Road towards Buffalo, NY. Originating in Morrisville, PA with quarter mile long continuous welded rail, the train headed east to Conway, PA picking up some Reading Blue Mountain & Northern coal hoppers along the way.
In Conway, the train head north along the Youngstown Line, then east on the Lake Erie District. In this video we see the train passing the control point at Silver Creek, NY after waiting for a westbound 315 to pass in the siding. Later we see the train pounding across the diamond at GB in Blasdell, NY where the Nickel Plate Road crossed the Erie (now operated by the Buffalo Southern Railroad).
After arriving in Buffalo the welded rail cars were dropped for forwarding to CSX, and the coal hoppers continued on to Binghamton where they were put on NS train 11Z for Reading, PA.
