Plot:
The Crime Doctor’s Gamble follows Dr. Robert Ordway, a physician-criminologist visiting Paris for a lecture tour. While there, his friend Inspector Jacques Morrell recruits him to assess a troubling murder case: a wealthy father has been killed, and his son Henri Jardin is suspected. Henri, who recently married a woman his father disapproved of, admits to recurring memory lapses — likely the result of wartime trauma — and cannot recall whether he committed the crime. As Dr. Ordway digs deeper, he uncovers a web of deceit involving art forgeries, nocturnal cabaret knife-throwers, and additional suspicious deaths. The case evolves into a complex mystery where identity, memory, and deception all play a role — and Ordway must untangle them to reveal the truth.
