Viking's London Paris and D-Day Cruise: Part 2 The D-Day Beaches

This is Part 2 of our series on Viking's London, Paris and D-Day Cruise. It covers the excursions to the D-Day beaches, which are highlights of the cruise.

Our excursions were over two days. On the first day, we visited Pointe du Hoc, where the Rangers famously scaled the cliffs against Nazi fortifications, Utah Beach, and Sainte-Mère-Église.

On the second day, we began with a moving visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Omaha Beach. We later visited Arromanches and saw the remains of the Mulberry Harbor.

These excursions were well done and our guide Stan was fantastic. However, they involved long days (12 and 11 and one-half hours, respectively) and a lot of time on a tour bus getting to and from the boat.
