Beautiful ride between Huntington and Port Jefferson on this highly scenic branch with commentary discussing the locations and history of the Port Jefferson Branch and some of the trains that operated on it. We conclude this video with trackside action on the branch around the Greenlawn to Kings Park area. Included is a great variety of horns on the diesel locomotives. Yes I place a lot of emphasis on horns. This goes back to my trombone playing days with numerous bands and orchestras and I was always a firm believer that horns need to be accentuated to provide dramatic affect to the music. I feel the same way about railroad horns. They must be heard, not stifled. (you might have been wondering why I’ve deleted this video a couple of times. It was because of a copyright claim I was getting on it but I couldn’t figure out what it was. After careful review, the copyright claim was noting a siren that was playing in the background. I didn’t realize that fire departments had copyrights on their sirens)
