The Turbulent Ocean (original documentary)

This documentary, originally aired in 1974, describes the planning and implementation of the revolutionary Mid-Ocean Dynamics Experiment (MODE). MODE was the first collaborative oceanographic experiment designed by leading international scientists using a variety of cutting-edge technologies and theoretical concepts to address an important question; were there eddies in the ocean? MODE was the blueprint for how we plan and execute modern oceanographic experiments, including real-time distribution of the data.
