Whitefield, Bengaluru

Whitefield is a premium locality in East Bengaluru, primarily known for its tech parks and upmarket multi-storey apartments. It is also a major shopping and entertainment hub. Whitefield remained a quaint settlement till the late 1990s, after which the local IT boom turned it into a major suburb. Whitefield is Bengaluru's first tech corridor to be connected by Namma Metro.

Whitefield is a developed residential locality and a well-known hub situated on the eastern periphery of Bengaluru. The locality is known for having offices of several IT companies. It is primarily an end-user-driven residential market, which comprises a mix of completed as well as under-construction projects. Prominent residential projects situated nearby are Prestige Shantiniketan, Prestige Lakeside Habitat, Brigade Cosmopolis, and the DivyaSree Republic of Whitefield.

Physical infrastructure

The locality is connected to the rest of the city mainly through the Whitefield Main Road, SH-35, Old Airport Road and Whitefield Railway Station. Moreover, Whitefield is expected to get metro connectivity by 2023 with the extension of the Purple Line from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield covering 13 stations, under Phase 2 of Namma Metro. Upon completion of the extension work, this line would connect Whitefield in the east with Kengeri in the west.

Social & retail infra

Whitefield boasts the presence of quality social and retail infrastructure in the form of educational institutions, hospitals and entertainment avenues. Prominent colleges situated in the near vicinity include Gopalan College of Engineering and Management and MVJ College of Engineering. Major hospitals namely Columbia Asia Hospital, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital and Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital, are also present in the locality. Inorbit Mall, The Forum Neighbourhood Mall and Ascendas Park Square Mall are prominent malls located within the locality.

Nearby employment hubs

Whitefield is a preferred residential destination for people working in various IT parks situated within the locality as well as along the IT corridor of Outer Ring Road (ORR). Major technology parks situated in and around the locality include International Tech Park, EPIP Zone, GR Tech Park, Sigma Tech Park, etc.
