Is Nokian's New Outpost AT Canada's Best Winter All Terrain Tire?!?

This 6 month review puts the New Nokian Outpost All Terrain tires to the test in severe snow, ice, and mud conditions -- right at the end (and beginning) of winter. This year's second snowfall was unusually wet and warm, so it melted quickly -- only to be frozen solid by an heavy blizzard that dropped temps to -15ºc. This resulted compacted slush being frozen into glare ice -- hidden underneath fresh snow! Sadly, #nokian did not provide these tyres for me to test (I wish they did), so this review is completely unbiased and based off experiences with the other tyres used as comparison.
So how did the Finnish tyre giant's new AT perform? I tested the new Nokains in deep snow, on glare ice, and compacted slush; on city roads, trails, and in the Albertan mountains to determine if the new All Terrain Tyre from Nokian held up to their reputation for producing excellent winter tyres.
The Outpost AT are an All Terrain Tyre which meets 3PMSF rating, and easily exceeds it competitors in almost all categories. Though it suffered slightly with lateral traction, the tyres out-perform Duratrac, Goodrich's KO2, and the legendary Cooper AT3. For the cost, I don't believe there is a better all-round tyre available. The only drawback is that the Outpost AT is not available in thinner sizes, such as 255/55/20 -- or better still, 245/60/20 -- which would increase the ground pressure and provide improved grip. (please extend your stock to cover taller and thinner sizes, @NokianTyresCom )!
