In this video, join me as I embark on a unique woodworking journey to build a beautiful oak bench using wood salvaged from a 1902 church. Follow the entire process, from the initial restoration work to the final assembly of the bench. Watch as I carefully select suitable boards, mark and cut them into blanks, and pass them through a planer to prepare them for the project.

You'll see the detailed steps involved in drilling holes for preliminary assembly, using screws and polyurethane glue, and then replacing the screws with wooden dowels for a clean, professional finish. Along the way, I also produce dowels using improvised tools, saw off the excess length, and leave some dowels in place for decorative purposes.

To enhance the aesthetics of the seating area, I add larger diameter plugs and meticulously scrape, chamfer, and sand the surfaces for a smooth finish. Witness the transformation of century-old wood into a unique, handcrafted bench that breathes new life into materials with a rich history.
