A rare 1926 player piano roll performing “The Roses Brought Me You” — uploaded for the first time ever on YouTube. "The Roses Brought Me You” was a mid-1920s Tin Pan Alley love song written by Owen Murphy and Al Sherman. When published, it was popularized as a fox-trot and recorded in 1926 by several leading dance orchestras, including the Jean Goldkette Orchestra on Victor Records. The song reflects the sentimental, dance-driven style that defined Jazz Age popular music. Although largely forgotten in today's world, perhaps this recording can rejuvenate a little life back into this beautiful old song and I hope you enjoy it.
US Roll company issued roll number 43592 in April, 1926 of this same song. It was arranged by Horace Prell. Without further information and considering how rolls were issued at US and shortly thereafter on their PEP label, it's most likely this was also Horace Prells arrangement with some modifications to the US version whether by Prell himself or someone else, it is not known.
