How do FNAF AI Levels Work? (Custom Night Numbers)

How do the numbers in FNAF's custom night actually work? I really doubt anybody will read this description, but here's a summary: the game generates a random number every 4-5 seconds, if the character's AI level, (which remember is between 0-20) is equal to, or less than this random number, (which is also 0-20) the character will move!
