Michal Inbar-Feigenberg, MD, of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario talks about a bone marrow transplantation they performed on a 4 year old asymptomatic patient with metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD). As Dr Inbar-Feigenberg explains in the video, bone marrow transplantation is only appropriate for later onset MLD patients and this is the first known transplantation being performed before symptoms appeared.
Details of the procedure were recently presented at the WORLDSymposium in San Diego, California.
