When choosing an electric vehicle (EV), it's important to consider the different charging speeds available. In this video, Enphase Energy discusses the different types of EV charging and how to choose the right one for your needs.

Level 1 Charging
Level 1 charging is the slowest type of EV charging, but it's also the most convenient. Level 1 chargers plug into a standard 120-volt household outlet and can provide up to 4-5 miles of range per hour of charge.

Level 2 Charging
Level 2 charging is the most common type of EV charging. Level 2 chargers require a dedicated 240-volt circuit and can provide up to 16-60 miles of range per hour of charge.

DC Fast Charging
DC fast charging is the fastest type of EV charging. DC fast chargers can provide up to 20-80% charge in 30-45 minutes. DC fast chargers are typically found in public places, such as highway rest areas and shopping malls.

Factors that affect charging speed:
Onboard charger: The onboard charger is a component of your EV that controls the charging process. The onboard charger's power rating determines how much power your EV can accept at a time.
Charging station: The charging station also plays a role in charging speed. The charging station's power output must be at least as high as the onboard charger's power rating.
Ambient temperature: Extreme temperatures can affect charging speed. Charging is slower in cold weather and faster in hot weather.

How to choose the right charging speed:
The best charging speed for you depends on your individual needs. If you have a short commute, you may be able to get by with Level 1 charging. If you have a longer commute or need to charge your EV quickly, you may want to consider Level 2 or DC fast charging.
