MEET KARINA - THE FOUNDER OF SMILING ONE AND THE CIRCLES OF CHANGE ACADEMY - HOSTING THIS YEARS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING FOR HER NPO THE SMILING ONE FOUNDATION - A PASSION PROJECT CLOSE TO HER HEART.

👉🏽 Exposed to all these courageous journeys is what has shaped ME. 
👉🏽 Also I felt lost in so many aspects of 'the journey'
👉🏽 I had to summon quite a bit of courage to walk the path.
👉🏽 today I am a Travel Companion... not one with all the answers
👉🏽 I'm someone who knows what it is to be wounded. I wasn’t fit for the dance of life, I had a lot of injuries myself. 

It has been a profound privilege to walk next to people inside/out prison, to be shared alongside them!

I immigrated end of 2006, not knowing that I would invest my heart in prison work. My journey here started off with a big wobble. I had no clue that I was getting ready for this incredible South African experience. This major challenge upon my arrival was the perfect launch pad for my growth process.

Within the 1st year of arriving in South Africa I had to figure out: What am I going to do here? What is my purpose? What is my direction? 

I wrote the book The Responsible Individual - an important puzzle piece in the foundational work we do as SmilingOne. I crafted the 1st part of our coach education - today known as the Circles of Change™ Education.

There was this new quality of CARE, that I discovered ... it started blossoming within me when I came to South Africa. I went through a massive paradigm shift.

November 1st 2007 I visited the first prison.. 16 men started the journey; 8 men became the first coaches - the pioneers.

Each man in this circle today speaks to their new version, to their courage... it was the same for me. I feel so privileged to have been in the presence of these men, in the presence of each beneficiary, in the presence of each project partner. I have such much gratitude… It’s a privilege to be crafted alongside other people …
