No Pattern Sewing ✨ Convert Skirt into Top Using Only Rectangles | upcycling

In this video, I upcycle an old satin skirt and convert it into a simple, stylish top using only rectangle pieces of fabric.

This is a beginner-friendly sewing tutorial with no complicated patterns, no curves, and no advanced techniques. The entire top is constructed using straight cuts, folding, and basic stitching, making it perfect for anyone learning garment construction or exploring sustainable fashion.

I’ve also reused the hem of the skirt to create the straps, reducing fabric waste and keeping the design minimal and clean.

⚠️ Note:
Since the skirt had limited fabric, I made the top in a size small, which turned out slightly tight for me. Always check fabric quantity before finalising your size, especially when working with satin.

If you want to convert this same pattern into a dress, simply extend the length of the rectangle panels. The construction remains exactly the same.

This tutorial focuses on upcycling, zero-waste thinking, and simple sewing methods that can be adapted for many garments.
