About the Presenters

Kristy Placido was named Teacher of the Year by the Michigan World Language Association in 2021 after many successful years teaching high school Spanish in Michigan public schools. She holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University and is passionate about creating compelling, culture-rich, and comprehensible reading materials for students!

Carrie Toth has been teaching high school Spanish since 1994 in rural southern Illinois and holds a Master of Arts in Spanish Education. A National Board-Certified Teacher in World Languages, Carrie has been Teacher of the Year for both the state of Illinois and the Central States Region, and was 2015 ACTFL National Teacher of the Year finalist.
