[ Idol History ] The Singers Who Paved the Way for the Japanese Idol Industry: The Peanuts

Hello Marth-mallows and welcome to a new series on my channel: IDOL HISTORY!

I asked over on my Instagram what kind of content people wanted to see from me this year, and I got a request to talk about Jpop idol history, specifically Showa Idols!

I had to do some research on the origins of the idol in Japan, and who might be considered the first Idol. There are a lot of very famous & incredibly talented Kayokyoku singers from the same time period, but all of my research & prior knowledge on the subject pointed to The Peanuts as the ones who really got the trend going.

For all you male idol fans watching, there is another group that could be credited with the 'first idol group' title, but my knowledge on idol culture mainly surrounds female groups, and I didn't want to put out any misinformation. I won't be covering male groups in this series unless I have the time and funds to put proper research into the subject. Honestly, male and female idols in Japan are quite different even though they're from the same industry in the same country. But that's another topic for another day. Thank you for your understanding!

I've been a Peanuts fan for a long time, and I'm so excited to finally talk more about them! I firmly believe that idols wouldn't be where they are today without the hard work of these ladies.
