Someone in the comments suggested I read a bit about the song beforehand — and wow, I’m so glad I did. I found out that this song was inspired by photos from the Great Depression, and it tells the story of how unemployment affects love, identity, and self-worth. That instantly gave the lyrics a whole new meaning for me.
Peter Gabriel’s voice honestly blew me away — that deep emotion and rasp, it’s unlike anything I’ve heard before. And Kate Bush… she’s just magical. Their chemistry, the storytelling, and that message of “Don’t give up” hit hard.
