Jackson Cannery is sourced from NBP and Eddie Walker is an extremely high quality recording by Brenderan Eddie from the Jackson Cannery single. Last Polka and the alternate takes of Summer B. and Julianne are from an original 1994 cassette we bought and had ripped by flacguy, which we also used to patch up a glitch in the non-alternate mix of Summer B.

There was a lot of pressure from Caroline to record a demo or anything to promote the band. Ben Folds Five took a different approach, took to a studio and recorded at least 6 songs with Caleb Southern. 2 of these songs, Jackson Cannery and Eddie Walker, were released as a 7-inch single with about 500 pressings, which has become a holy grail amongst Ben Folds Five collectors. This single is what got the band signed to Caroline. Even rarer, all 6 songs were put on a cassette tape and handed out at their concerts in 1994 to gain audience more interest in the band. I absolutely love all these versions of the songs, especially the backing vocals on Where's Summer B.? and the overall rougher feeling of Julianne (bags a trag of trash!). The 6th song of the original cassette, Boxing, is just an alt. mix of the Sony/Tree demo that was later included on Best Imitation of Myself. You can hear it in disc 7 of this compilation. Speaking of alt. mixes, we found some slightly different takes on a random demo cassette that someone sold on eBay. Julianne is an entirely different take that just may be my favorite version of the song, and Summer B. is the same take but with a few tracks unmuted towards the end. It's included here for the sake of completeness.
