Invermoriston Highland Scotland
We were travelling to the far North West of Scotland and needed to break the journey up into 2 days, so stayed overnight at Invermoriston near Loch Ness, a small village with some interesting features. The owners of the place where we were staying were charming and very keen to show us the red squirrels and abundance of birdlife which came for the copious amounts of food, which they put out each day in the garden. We were promised a pinemartin in the evening but sadly, it did not materialise, but the excellent close-up views of the red squirrels were delightful.
Invermoriston has some impressive falls on the River Moriston as it flows through the village. Two charming stone bridges, one built by Thomas Telford in 1813 and another built in 1930 to replace it which now forms part of the A82, offer excellent vantage points to see the falls. A summer house built by a former laird of Glenmoriston offers views of some falls further down the river where migrating salmon could be viewed as they swam upstream, though I didn’t see any on the day.
I hope you enjoy the video.
