GEORGE FRIDERIC HANDEL SINFONIA IN B-FLAT MAJOR (HWV 339) / The Sinfonia in B-flat Major (HWV 339) is Baroque chamber music at its finest. Called a “sinfonia” but in all reality a trio sonata, this Handel chamber music is scored for two solo violins and basso continuo (cello and harpsichord, in this case). Likely written when Handel was in his late teens or early 20s, it’s full of flash and fire, but also has a beautiful middle-movement adagio. This performance of Handel’s music is on Baroque period instruments, played by members of La forza delle stelle | Baroque Orchestra. It was recorded live at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New York City on March 4, 2023. We hope you enjoy it!
