The 16 Line Gesture Method

Gesture drawing can be tough to grasp, but I've found that focusing on movement and asymmetry helps create convincing figures. Instead of outlining contours, I use curves to represent parts of the body, starting with the head and moving through the spine, pelvis, and limbs. By thinking about the internal dynamics and using offset apexes in curves, I create a rhythm that guides the viewer's eye. This approach is about understanding what's happening inside the figure, allowing for expressive and dynamic drawings.
