Vidal and Buckley were brought back on television for one more "debate" during the ABC coverage of the 1968 US election night. This follows the combative display during their convention coverage appearances three months before. It would be their last dance before Buckley's lawsuit the following year and coded jabs by both men throughout the years.
I have added behind the scenes footage at the very end. I believe these are the complete segments featuring both intellectuals.
The opening clip of Buckley exists in color, an outtake is used in the "Best of Enemies" documentary. The entire broadcast exists in color.
