Dali Thoy Recipe | Konlani Style Dali Toyi Recipe
Today, we’re making a delicious **Konkani-style Dali Toyi**, a comforting dal recipe that’s simple, flavorful, and perfect with rice. Let’s get started!"
Ingredients
1 cup Toor Dal (split pigeon peas)
3 Green Chilies (slit)
1 tsp Oil
1.5 cups Water (for cooking)
1 tsp Hing (asafoetida)
1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1/2 to 1 cup Water (for consistency)
2-3 tbsp Coconut Oil (for tadka)
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 Sprig of Curry Leaves
2-3 Dry Red Chilies
Fresh Coriander Leaves (for garnish)
Step 1: Prepare the Toor Dal
First, take 1 cup of Toor Dal and wash it thoroughly. Let it soak for about 10 minutes. This helps the dal cook faster.
Step 2: Cooking the Dal in Pressure Cooker
Transfer the soaked dal into a pressure cooker. Add 3 slit green chilies, 1 teaspoon oil, and 1.5 cups of water. Close the lid and cook on low heat for 5 whistles.
Step 3: Whisk the Dal
Once the pressure cooker cools down, carefully open it. Now, whisk the dal until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon of Hing (asafoetida) and salt to taste. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add 1/2 to 1 cup of water. Whisk it thoroughly."
Step 4: Boil for 5 Minutes
Now, let the dal boil for another 5 minutes on low to medium heat. This lets the flavors come together."
Step 5: Prepare the Tadka (Seasoning)
While the dal is boiling, let's make the tadka. Heat 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and 2-3 dry red chilies. Let this sizzle for a few seconds.
Step 6:Add the Tadka to the Dal
Let's pour it over the dal and mix it in. This adds a beautiful aroma and flavor to the dish."
Step 7: Garnish & Serve
Finally, garnish with some fresh coriander leaves and your delicious Konkani-style *Dali Toyi* is ready!"
