If you're ready to set your first stone, then we've put together this quick guide to the tools you'll need to get started. Bezel settings can look complicated but to secure a gem in place, just a few simple tools are all you need.
Bezel set rings are one of the most popular places to start, and a clamp is essential in keeping the ring nice and secure during the setting process. This clamp has a wedge which can be gently tapped with a hammer to keep it nicely in place. The ring should be placed inside the lined jaws so that only the bezel is visible.
There are 3 basic tools for pushing the metal over your stones, and they're aptly named pushers! The square-ended version is great for flat edged bezels, and the grooved versions can be used for claw or prong settings. A bezel roller (also called a rocker) is useful for pushing the thin edge of metal flush against the stone.
Finally, burnishers can be used to add a shine to the bezel by rubbing over the metal surface. Both curved and straight options are available. A burnisher is always a handy bit of kit to have around, as there's plenty it can be used for.
We stock these tools as a complete set - search for code SSSK on our website. They're also all available separately if there's one or two you like the look of.
