If you are starting with an agile transformation, it is important for you to do the following, to be able to get the results you want.
1) Understand the vision of the transformation sponsor group/ leadership (Why Agile transformation?)
2) Make the current state assessment.
3) Seek the support of leadership and hold them accountable for results.
4) Draft a roadmap for the transformation, such as 90 days rolling plan.
5) Train and form a working coalition with the middle managers
6) Provide training on Agile, and other relevant frameworks to everyone in the organization.
7) Remove organizational barriers, alleviate people’s insecurities, understand the sources of resistance, and address them.
8) Establish the right communication channels, a culture of 2-way communication and 100% transparency.
9) Identify & Run Pilots
10) Empower the Pilot groups
11) Amplify learning, Adapt & celebrate Success
12) With the new learning, scale the transformation to more teams.
13) Monitor the transformation at every state, learn & adapt from new developments.
14) Sustain the transformation by providing continuous support, training, knowledge, coaching to the Agile teams.
15) And lastly, don’t treat the transformation as a project, or a destination that you have to reach, but as a continuous journey. Be patient and empathetic with people in the journey.
