Making White Fuming Nitric Acid

Welcome to Episode 10 of Molecular Playground and first episode of Level 2: Distill-Land! In this episode, I show how simple it is to make White Fuming Nitric Acid!

White Fuming Nitric Acid is a potent and highly reactive oxidizing agent. It can easily nitrate alcohols as well as perform nitrolysis and aromatic nitrations. In addition, it is widely used in industrial settings for rocket propellants, explosives, and chemical synthesis.

WARNING:
Nitric Acid is a very strong oxidizer that can ignite many organic compounds and destroy metals. Handle with CAUTION! And always wear your safety equipment!
