Today, I’m sharing my favorite Shrimp/Prawns Curry — a spicy, tangy, and flavorful coastal-style dish made with tamarind, aromatic spices, and fresh herbs. 🌶️🍋
This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves authentic home-cooked Indian flavors. Whether you’re serving it with rice, chapati, or naan, this shrimp curry will bring restaurant-quality taste straight to your kitchen!
🧂 Ingredients Used:
Shrimp – 500g
Oil – 3 tbsp
Whole garam masala
Green chilies
1 big onion (sliced)
2 small tomatoes
2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
Tamarind water
2 tbsp red chili powder
½ tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp garam masala
1 tbsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
Fresh mint/coriander leaves
👩🍳 Method Highlights:
In a pan, heat 3 tbsp of oil.
Add whole garam masala and green chilies — sauté for a few seconds until aromatic.
Add chopped onions and chopped tomatoes.
Sprinkle a little salt and ½ tbsp turmeric powder, then sauté until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
Add 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste and mix well.
Add cleaned shrimp and cook until they turn pink and start releasing moisture.
Mix in 2 tbsp red chili powder, 1 tbsp garam masala, and 1 tbsp coriander powder. Stir well.
Pour in tamarind water and cook on low flame until the curry thickens.
Finally, garnish with fresh mint or coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti. 🌿🍛
