Director's Notes
The Bald Soprano had been one of my favourite plays ever since I discovered it early in my University years. Absurdist theatre allows for the actors to explore a variety of concepts and ideas in a variety of fun and whacky ways! And this performance is certainly not lacking in that area!
The clock/time plays a large role in this show. In the world of The Bald Soprano, time is so jumbled that it's practically nonexistent. To the characters in the show, it could make sense that lots of different periods of time all exist in exactly the same moment. Some of the ides they refer to may have happened in the past, present or future. A linear progression of time just doesn't apply to the world of The Bald Soprano.
The play highlights the breakdown of communication among the characters, with their conversations often veering into the nonsensical and fragmented exchanges. Don't try to make sense, it will drive you crazy!
This cast of 6 has been an absolute delight to work with! We had more laughs than we should have and enjoyed the rehearsal process despite the many rehearsals where there were great struggles to get the lines right. This show is not an easy one to memorize, as there are large chunks of the show where nothing makes sense and there are no connections to previous lines!
I am unbelievably proud of this group of young actors, they have worked very hard over the past few months.
We hope you enjoy the show!
"Always someone. Never anyone."

Quotes
When talking about a certain set of chairs:
De Mara: Owen, did they have arms?
Owen: Who?
De Mara: Some of the words in the script are off because this was translated...
Acadia: (with great pride and confidence) Yeah, from British!
Paige: What's a chamber pot?
De Mara: It's what you pee into and throw out the window!
De Mara: (sarcastically) These accents are going really well for us.
Owen: (In a Texan accent) I'm British
De Mara: They can't kiss until marriage!
Sydney: They can kiss- they're married, just not to each other!
Sarah (when trying to pronounce "exhibitionistic"): Etxra-biscuits-niskits
"Nothing is impossible the word itself says "I'm possible"!
translated by Siri from the Italian bathroom
Sarah moos weakly
Paige: (with a dead face) Have you ever heard a cow!?!
Sarah silently shakes their head "no".
Sydney: I love a man with phlegm!
