Installation of a monumental hand crafted grindstone in 1971

Remscheid, Germany, 1971. The historic grinding workshop Wolf & Bangert receives giant natural grindstones from the Eifel quarries. When this film was made, there were still two grinding workshops in Remscheid operating with natural stone. This film explains why the workshop uses natural sandstone in grinding machines: only it provides an even, flat grind without overheating the teeth and causing premature corrosion.
