Hermína Týrlová The Mother of Czech Animation

Often referred to as the mother of Czech animation, Hermína Týrlová was a trailblazing filmmaker renowned for her captivating stop-motion and puppet-based narratives. She produced more than 60 films, mostly in the middle of the 20th century, that made commonplace objects like cloth and yarn come to life and told sweet, creative stories for young audiences. Her work, which received praise from all around the world and influenced Czech animation going forward, combined creativity and originality.
