Prominent TV Host Accused of Sexual Harassment 朱军被指性骚扰

Zhu Jun, 54, is a one of the most prominent TV hosts in China who has hosted shows for CCTV for more than two decades. A girl published an anonymous letter on July 25 accusing Zhu Jun of harassing her when she was an intern in 2014. The girl said she did call the police after the harassment, but eventually stopped pursuing the case under persuasion and threats. Zhu Jun finally responded on August 15 by releasing a statement. He denied the accusation and said he will sue the person who “spread rumors”. To protect her friend who helped her post the anonymous letter online, the girl steps forward and gives an interview.

“Every year we spend the Chinese New Year at my grandma’s. My parents would change the channel whenever they see Zhu on TV. But they couldn’t explain to our relatives about why they change the channel. I hope more victims will step forward. I hope Zhu take legal action. Let the legal proceeding begin. We will see you in court.”

54岁的朱军是中国家喻户晓的主持人，在中央电视台任职近20年。7月25日一个女孩在网上发出匿名信，指控朱军在2014年曾对她有过性骚扰，当时她还是实习生。匿名信中称，朱军在化妆室内“隔着衣服开始试图猥亵，丝毫不顾及我的推阻”。朱军于8月15日以律师函回应，否认指控，并称他将“追责谣言散布者”。为了保护帮助她将匿名信发到网上的朋友，受害者决定站出来接受采访。女孩说她在受到骚扰后曾报警，但最终此事不了了之，因为受到各种“警告与规劝”。“印象最深刻的是每年春节都在奶奶家过，看春晚的时候父母一看到朱军就说赶紧换台，至于为什么换台又难以启齿，没办法和亲戚解释。我希望更多的受害者会站出来，我也希望朱军能尽快起诉，让司法程序能够更快地介入。我们可以法庭上见。”
