Fiat Downtown is one of the most radical electric concept cars of the 1990s. Presented in 1993, this compact three-seat city car featured a central driving position, aluminum body, wheel-hub electric motors and a claimed 300 km range. Designed under the direction of Chris Bangle and developed by Roberto Giolito, Downtown explored new ideas of urban mobility, sustainability and interior space efficiency. Many of its solutions later influenced Fiat models like the Multipla and Barchetta. This video tells the complete story of Fiat Downtown from concept to legacy.
