Mt. Battle 100 Trainers - Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness

Four hours. 100 trainers. One man. This is the story of his journey to conquer Mt. Battle.

What an experience this was! Took a while to work up the courage and energy to attempt this. Very long and tedious, but it's worth it. It just makes the final battle that much more intense when you know that if you lose you just wasted 4 hours. And man, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. 3:48:45 for that battle. Literally down to the last turn; if I hadn't revived Starmie I would have lost. I really thought Flygon could tank a dragon claw from Latias, but I revived Starmie just in case, because I knew Latias couldn't kill two Pokemon in one turn and Starmie would be faster. Boy, am I glad I did that. When I saw Flygon fall to that dragon claw, my heart skipped a beat. (Edit: didn't think about the calm mind at the time, explains a lot, yikes)

I wasn't too worried for most of this run, especially when I was easily dealing with the trainers in areas 7-9, but when I got to area 10, I lost a lot of my confidence. Fights felt a lot closer. Didn't help that I was getting crit left and right near the end. After trainer 99, more than 3 and a half hours in, I was scared, and for good reason apparently, considering that ending. Not sure if the "safety" save actually works on Mt. Battle or if the game knows and prevents you from cheating the system, probably would've restarted from the beginning again if I died anyway. But I clutched it out. Love this game, glad to have completed everything I was interested in. Great soundtrack, too. Really glad that the main boss theme is one of my favorite themes, otherwise it wouldn't be hype to hear it once again in the finale.

And yeah I picked Chikorita, it needs love too! It was my first starter, so I have a soft spot for it.

Stepped away at roughly 3:04:50, hence the pause.

Special shoutouts to trainers 90 (I didn't even know the AI would switch in this game...) and 98 (explosion Shiftry kills itself just to deny me the experience). Douchebags.

Final note: yes, I'm aware that I sent in Ampharos against my own earthquake at one point like an idiot, along with some other dumb mistakes throughout. Just slipped my mind that I used earthquake. I'm not perfect haha.

Final final note because I forgot: interesting that certain doors are still open if you were training on Mt. Battle previously without leaving the area, didn't know that was the case. Anyway, that's why certain doors are open later on in the run, because I was grinding for exp. in areas 5-7 before this.
