Within BPMN, boundary events provide a way to model what should happen if an event occurs while an activity is already active. A boundary event is an intermediate catch event and can be either interrupting or non-interrupting. Boundary events are also most effective when paired with other BPMN elements such as other tasks and sub-processes.
