Welcome to a very personal tour of two 19-century merchats houses which now serve as ceremonial halls for people of Saint Petersburg. First comes the house of Konstantin Vargunin. Built in the very end of 19th century, it originally served as the residence of the affluent family. The house's architecture reflects the elegance of the era, with detailed facades and decorative elements that have been preserved over the years. After the revolution, the building was repurposed as a registry office, where it continues to serve the community today. This is where we had our official marriage registration ceremony.
The second is the house of Nikolai Spiridonov. It's an opulent historic 19th-century building. Named after its original owner, the building has undergone various changes in its use over the years. Today, it plays a key role in the community by handling the official registration of births. In this mansions's gorgeous interiors Grisha was given his birth certificate.
