During question period on Tuesday, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre accused Prime Minister Mark Carney of breaking his promise to deliver housing. This criticism came after the parliamentary budget officer's report projected that only 26,000 housing units will be built over the next five years, which is only a fraction of what is needed to restore affordability in the housing market.
Poilievre also slammed Carney for doing a photo op in front of a house that had been dismantled after he left it, and for saying, "You can't build homes if you run out of the house," when the prime minister left for the meeting with the First Nations in the middle of question period.
He added that the Liberal Leader was "feeling very cocky a few minutes ago" until he worried that the Conservatives might present him with the "facts that the parliamentary budget officer revealed today." Poilievre questioned, "Why won't the Prime Minister stand in this House and debate it?"
