THE CRAZIEST RACE OF MY CAREER IN A *REAL* GTR! - THROWBACK TUESDAY

What's up everyone! We're gearing up for one of our favorite events of the season - TX2K23! This event is easily one of most epic that we attend. It has been around for so many years, and actually started as a Supra-only event. It has since grown to an insane level, and is now one of the largest events in the United States.


This event was one of our first. We brought our "only" 800 horsepower Nismo GTR when it was new to give it a couple of exhibition runs. We've come a long way since then. In 2021 we came out in force with our trailer and RV, Ferrari, and 2009 GTR. We were the top qualifier and things were looking really promising for our week at the races. The car was running flawlessly all the way into eliminations on Sunday, but that is when disaster struck. During the burnout we broke a gear in the transmission and had to hand the win to a slower car. Needless to say it was a rough weekend.

Fast forward to 2022 though, and things were going to change. The 2009 GTR started the event on the rocks, we were blowing tubro piping left and right during practice. We even had a real axle come un-seated and had to beat it back in with a hammer! Even with all of these issues, we still found ourselves in the top 5 for qualifying, and were looking at a solid chance of pulling out a win. We fought our way through every elimination round, and finally found ourselves in the finals with Chris Sassi, owner of Shop Houston. His GTR was very similar to ours, as you'll see in the video, and man was it running fast that day. Right before we were set to go up for the burnout, we noticed a misfire in our engine.
