Beef and Onion Puff Pastry Rolls
Ingredients:
• 800 g puff pastry sheet
• 1 lb ground beef
• Grated cheese mix
• 1 large onion, finely chopped
• 2 tbsp sour cream
• Salt
• Black pepper
• Meat seasoning
• Paprika
• 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
• In a large skillet over medium heat with a little bit of olive oil, cook the finely chopped onion until it is soft and translucent.
• Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
• Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, meat seasoning, and paprika.
• When ready, remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
• Once cooled, mix in the sour cream until well combined. Set aside.
• Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
• Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth any creases and to ensure it is of even thickness.
• Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly over the puff pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
• Sprinkle the grated cheese mix (such as Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella) to your liking.
• Roll the pastry sheet up tightly from one side to the other, like a jelly roll, making sure the filling stays inside.
• Once rolled, use a sharp knife to cut the roll into 8 equal pieces, approximately 2 inches thick.
• Place the cut pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each piece.
• Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked. Sprinkle some additional cheese on top of the rolls.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
• Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These rolls can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
