FUGITIVE on Robbs MetalWorks 2025

As we revel in the latter chapters of a LONG career, one truth is becoming evidently clear: in ALL facets of the music vocation,...from musicians TO promoters TO venues TO media there is an obvious 'changing of the guard'. And, I'm quite pleased about it because thats exactly how it should be. With new, young talent & that inevitable drive to pursue our respective contributions it all assures that our Texas scene will both stay strong & vibrant. And, when I think of up n' coming guitarists (& song writers), no name is more admirable than Fort Worth die hard, Blake Ibanez. Beginning his career out of the north Texas hardcore scene in 2008, Blake's thrashy riffs surfaced to the world in 2017 when Power Trip released their vigorous (& acclaimed) FULL length debut, 'Nightmare Logic', which both saw the band receive a Grammy nod, as well chart on the Billboard; both quite esteemed accomplishments for a thrash band. And, while PT recovered from the loss of vocalist, Riley Gale, Blake unleashed his angst & love for writing/performing by forging ahead with his new outfit, Fugitive; and, once again proving with the band's debut EP, 'Maniac' (& a string of singles) that his riffs are at the heart of his every endeavor & every metalhead's inclination. Now, with the reemergence of PT, Blake is busier than ever with both band's playing the biggest shows of their careers & what seems like only the beginning of a robust career. SO, on July 11th, 2025, when Fugitive came through San Antonio as part of The Summer Slaughter Tour, the RMW Crew wanted to catch up with the man & get the latest. In the interview below you will see us discuss the following: the rise of PT & Fugitive, managing both bands, writing for both bands, their deal with Blue Grape Music, working with Nick Raskulinecz, the SS tour (& Jamey Jasta), touring for the rest of 2025 & his love of Texas metal!
