J.S. Ondara Performs Live at the Leon Loft for Acoustic Café

On August 2, 2019, Kenyan singer-songwriter J.S. Ondara joined us at the Leon Loft for a short performance and interview with Acoustic Café host Rob Reinhart.

Ondara spoke with Rob about how he fell in love with American rock music as a kid growing up in Nairobi by skipping school and listening to music in internet cafes. He told his incredible story of coming to America by winning the green card lottery and then immediately teaching himself how to play guitar so he could play open mic nights and realize his dream of becoming a folk singer. Ondara played songs “Lebanon”, “Saying Goodbye”, “Torch Song”, “American Dream”, and “Give Me a Moment” from his 2019 debut album, “Tales of America”.
