Another Year with Lucy Glow and the Lucy Rose Apple offered out of Washington State from the folks at Chelan Fresh. I have looked forward to their arrival at this time since i first saw them 3 seasons ago. Both of these red fleshed selections have excellent quality. I tend to lean towards the Lucy Glow partially do to a bit more acid to the flavor profile. Not lacking in sweetness, the Lucy Glow just presents a bit more complexity than the Lucy Rose to me. But don't get me wrong , those who prefer a crisp snap to their apples will not be disappointed with the Lucy Rose's sweet juicy film flesh, The Crunch factor is big. There are some growers that are offering both for the home garden just google the names. Red fleshed fruit is of a real interest to me for more reasons than just the wonderful visual eating experience. I also believe that the health benefits of the red fleshed fruit varieties may prove to be substantial as well. Test are being done on these and other red fleshed fruit type to prove or disprove this notion.
