Released by the U.S. Government and the U.S. Navy's Industrial Incentive Division, this WWII film reproduces a German newsreel "Fernbomber uber dem Atlantik" which showed dramatic images of the German Luftwaffe attacking an Allied convoy at sea. The point of the film (from an American perspective) was to inspire war workers to build more ships and supplies to "carry the fight to the enemy". The film depicts a nighttime mission of a German Focke-Wulf Condor bomber as it silently leaves its hangar and prepares for a long-range attack on English ships located far out in the Atlantic Ocean. After hours of flight, the crew spots and attacks an enemy convoy, successfully sinking three ships and heavily damaging two others. Proud of their mission’s success, the bomber returns to base at dusk. The narration highlights that although the Germans saw this as a decisive blow, American production replaced the losses and continued the fight, emphasizing that ultimate victory depended on the combined efforts of American workers, factories, and fighters.

1:08 — The massive hangar doors open silently. A state-of-the-art Focke-Wulf Condor bomber rolls out onto the runway. Ground personnel in black uniforms prepare the aircraft for a night mission targeting English ships far out in the Atlantic, about 1500 km west of Ireland. Due to long flight times of 7-8 hours, the bomber is loaded with unusually large amounts of fuel.
1:46 — On the evening before the night takeoff, the plane’s commander receives the final mission orders from his squadron commander.
4:18 — After many hours of flying far from any coastline, the crew finally spots smoke signals indicating the enemy convoy. The attack position is reached, and preparations for assault begin, including readying the onboard weapons.
7:03 — The outcome of the attack: three enemy ships are sunk and two are severely damaged. The men take pride in having successfully completed their mission. They fly low over the wreckage one last time before disengaging from the enemy convoy.
8:27 — Several hours later, at dusk, the Condor returns to its base. It circles once over the home harbor before preparing to land.
9:30 — A single mission by this German Focke-Wulf Condor bomber inflicted significant, irreplaceable damage on the enemy’s shipping capacity, destroying nearly 15,000 gross register tons.
9:58 — The narration comments that while the Germans believed the story ended there, the Americans replaced their losses and intensified the fight.
10:28 — The final message emphasizes that the ultimate victory depends on American workers, factories, and fighters continuing their efforts.
